Attorney Hadi Harp’s Volunteer Work at Dearborn Expungement Fair

On October 21, 2022, Attorney Hadi Harp participated in the City of Dearborn’s Expungement Fair, where more than 100 individuals came seeking help to clear eligible criminal records. The event was part of a broader effort to give people a real opportunity to move forward—by removing convictions that had long limited access to jobs, housing, education, and other parts of everyday life.

Providing Hands-On Legal Support

At the event, Hadi worked directly with attendees—answering questions, reviewing eligibility, and walking people through the expungement application process. He helped individuals understand where they stood under Michigan’s Clean Slate law and made sure they had what they needed to complete the process accurately.

For many, this was the first time they had received clear, direct legal guidance. Hadi’s role was to keep the process moving, reduce confusion, and make sure that those eligible had a fair shot at getting their records cleared.

Why Expungement Matters

Expungement is more than paperwork—it can be a turning point. A cleared record can mean the chance to apply for jobs without fear, access stable housing, or go back to school. But the process can be confusing without help, and many people are turned away simply because they’re unsure of the rules or how to apply.

By volunteering at the Dearborn Expungement Fair, Hadi helped remove that barrier for dozens of individuals. The event was hosted in partnership with the City of Dearborn, the Michigan Attorney General’s office, and local community groups.

Giving Back Through Legal Work

Hadi’s participation in the Expungement Fair reflects his ongoing commitment to using his law degree to serve—not just clients, but the wider community. Giving back through volunteer legal work has always been a part of his practice, and events like this are a way to stay connected to the people and the places his work is meant to impact.

“Being part of the expungement fair was a reminder of what this work can mean for people. Everyone deserves the chance to move forward.”
